The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven, volunteer led organization and it is through memberships that we are able to work on business development and economic initiatives to fulfill our “healthy business environment” mandate.  We believe sincerely that we can accomplish more collectively than what no single business can do alone and consider our Chamber to be the “Voice of Business” in Medicine Hat and the surrounding community.  The Chamber proudly represents the interests of the business community to all levels of government - local, provincial and federal and our programs and activities are developed to promote and strengthen our economic and social climate.

You may join the Chamber at any time and our fees are prorated to the day you join.  Membership fees are renewed annually with the start of each fiscal year and are based on the number of full-time employees (including management and owners). Registered Charities, Non-Profit Organizations, Students and Retirees receive a 50% discount on membership dues. The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce, though the fifth largest Chamber in Alberta, has one of the lowest rates for membership dues! One can easily have their membership "paid for" by accessing the broad range of benefits available. Whether you are looking for a monetary benefit, or would like to increase your contact or client base, membership with the Chamber has its benefits. In addition to some of the benefits above the following benefits & discounts are also available to members of the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce. Not only are there monetary discounts, but numerous networking opportunities and social events take place throughout the year.

This publication is distributed 10 times per year to approximately 2300 businesses in Medicine Hat & Area. All new members receive a one time free advertisement listing their business, contact information as well as a general profile. Chamber members also receive up to a 25% discount on advertising.

Chamber Chatter

Once a month the Chamber distributes a newsletter exclusively to members. All new members receive a one time free advertisement listing their business, contact information as well as a general profile. Businesses or Organizations can also advertise special events such as Grand Openings, Anniversary's and other events for free.

Business Profile

As one of the perks of being a new member of the Chamber you receive a free 100 word business profile, describing your business and the goods and/or services you provide.  This profile will then appear in the Chamber Chatter Newsletter and our Chamber Business Magazine.  We will also include your company name, address, phone number as well as fax, email and website, if applicable.

As a Chamber member you can advertise in the Chamber section of the Medicine Hat News for substantially less. Members can receive a $260.00 ad for as little as $28 + GST.

Highway Cluster Signs

Cluster signs, also known as logo signs, are used to identify services using company logos or business names to indicate upcoming services along the highway and within the community.  Cluster signs are an important part of the communication process between businesses and the traveling public and are effective in providing this information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Chamber Members receive a significant discount to advertise on the signs located along Highway #1 and Highway #3.

Media Advertising

Trade Show Discounts

A 10% discount is available to Chamber members for a Trade Show booth at the Great West Home Expo & Leisure Show and Sunshine Home Expo & Leisure Show, hosted by The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce/Tourism Medicine Hat.

Free Boardroom Use

The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce has a large boardroom available to members days or evenings at no charge. Bookings are made through our administrative assistant at 527-5214 ext 221.

Being a Chamber Member means your business will be referred free of charge to any individuals contacting the Chamber office and requesting information pertaining to your type of business. Your company information is also listed free of charge on our website! Only Chamber Members receive this exclusive service!

MERX Bulletins

Merx is Canada's official public sector electronic tendering service.  The Merx service can help you to expand your business by offering access to potentially thousands of government departments and agencies that you may not have considered as potential clients.  At the Chamber we can provide you with a weekly Merx bulletin (on request) to keep you informed on the opportunities available.

As a non-profit organization, the Chamber of Commerce is "in business for business". The majority of events held throughout the year would not be possible without the generous support of our members though sponsorship. A fabulous opportunity to get your name out in the community, sponsorship is reserved for members only! Opportunities abound for nearly all Chamber events. Please contact the Chamber office if your or your business would be interested in this select opportunity!
