Province Takes Steps to Combat Rural Crime

The provincial government has come out with a number of measures to combat rural crime. The first measure will be the creation of an expanded unit called the Rural Alberta Provincial Integrated Defence Force or RAPID Force. Secondly, changes will be introduced to the Occupiers' Liability Act, trespass laws, and the Animal Health Act. Thirdly, the government has proclaimed the Scrap Metal Dealers and Recyclers Identification Act to deter metal theft. Lastly, a new program will enable communities to write a community impact statement with forms available online in early January.
