Many people see the Chamber as a purely business to business organization. However, they may not be aware of how we are creating connections within our community.
The Chamber regularly receives inquiries from individuals, both in town and out of town, for referrals and recommendations to businesses. In addition, we get inquiries about different services, supports and statistics, as often a Chamber of Commerce is connector of information within its community.
Many businesses will join a Chamber of Commerce for that reason, as it’s a reputable source of information, and a referral service and connector for business.
When we receive a call about a product or service, we refer from our database of members, making sure our businesses receive those connections. Customers can count on these businesses because of the investment, code of conduct and commitment they have made by belonging to the Chamber network.
Our businesses also have a profile on our business directory including their business description, contact information, links to their website and social media. Some even have photos and videos. Through our business directory, you can search for a business by name, keyword or category to find what you need. We will be working over the next several months to further enhance this service for our members and community.
Businesses can also list their sales and promotions, shop local offers, events and jobs postings and even list things on our Buy and Sell Xchange. This comes at no additional charge for our members. The benefit to residents is that you can check out all these offers and subscribe to the sales and promotions page, the Buy and Sell Xchange and our job postings to keep current with what’s new and the offers and jobs within our business community. You don’t even have to worry about whether algorithms will impact the visibility of this information. If you are an employee of a Chamber member business, you also have access to 125 offers and discounts at local businesses.
Our Buy and Sell Xchange is a new feature we recently launched for items that are for sale, lease, rent, barter or trade. Businesses can list items including residential or commercial real estate, storage, warehouse or even a single office space that is available. Businesses can also list office furniture and equipment for sale. For residents, they can check this out too, as you’ll be able to soon find real estate, along with furniture and items that businesses are looking to liquidate.
For in person opportunities to buy and sell, trade shows create an ideal avenue for face to face connections. The Chamber hosts the largest and longest running trade shows in our community as a way to help businesses make these connections. While we aren’t hosting the Great West Home & Leisure show this fall, we will be hosting the Sunshine Home & Garden Show in March 2021, using it as a way to promote businesses and making that connection between consumers and our business community.
In addition, if you want to stay connected to all the current business news, you can follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram and subscribe to our weekly newsletter or read our blog. We scour local, provincial and federal Government websites and affiliate partner news sources for the latest business news to keep you up to date and informed.
Of course, when a business joins the Chamber, they become part of the influence that fuels our business community. They also become part of a larger network of businesses within the province and across this country. Supporting our businesses and creating connections to our local business community is a key role in what we do, as we know that when our business community is thriving, they support the growth of our community; contributing to the tax base that supports the services we benefit from collectively, while also contributing to the various causes that support our community’s social fabric.
We encourage you to take a second look at your local Chamber and how it not only supports our business community, but also how we are creating connections within our community.
