Advocacy in Action

Medicine Hat & District Chamber Policy Passes at Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM

On October 14th and 15th, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) held its annual AGM. Our Chamber retains membership in the Canadian Chamber for our member businesses, which allows us to submit policies for adoption into the CCC Policy Book and vote on policies submitted by other Canadian Chambers. Given that the CCC policy sessions took place during our annual Business Awards event, we were unable to attend.

However, we reviewed and provided feedback on the proposed policies, and sent our votes to Ottawa with a delegate Chamber that voted on our behalf.

Furthermore, we also submitted Building Canada’s Community Revitalization for consideration in the policy session this year. The intention behind this policy is to continue the funding for Canada Community Revitalization Fund, a temporary, two-year, $500 million infrastructure program intended to revitalize community spaces across Canada. The applications far outweighed the available funding, so we recommended that the federal government invest in the fund for another two years. We are proud to share that our policy was passed with amendments.
