Lisa Kowalchuk, Executive Director

Lisa is passionate about our community and seeing growth and prosperity within our region. She enjoys seeking out opportunities and finding out what's possible in what sometimes seems impossible. Community building is important to Lisa and she knows that to see change happen, she needs to be an active part of that change and contribute as an agent of change. The Chamber of Commerce has provided her the opportunity to put her strength and passion to work, as we strive to connect and support our business community through partnerships, networks, resources, programs and through our influence. Lisa puts her passion, knowledge, resources, connections and network to influence meaningful change in our community. Having served in this role since 2009, she brings knowledge and experience gained through the Chamber and our network, coupled with her past experiences and knowledge to serve our business community.


Pamela Kunz, Director of Business Development & Operations

Pamela joined the team first thing in the new year of 2022. She has been a resident of Medicine Hat since 1995 and has raised her family here in the city she loves. Pamela’s passion for helping companies develop positive culture, integrity and fair work environments drives her in continuing education and training. With a history in business and multi-industry management experience, education in Occupational Health and Safety, leadership and communication, Pamela looks forward to bringing that knowledge and resource to the members of the Medicine Hat Chamber.


Kerry Knowles, Finance & Operations

Kerry joined the Chamber in September 2021 as the Finance and Operations Administrator, she comes with a huge spectrum of experience and knowledge in HR (administration), finance, welfare, operations, and retail. She started her career as a Data Entry Clerk in the UK, she then joined her husband who was at the time stationed in Germany and had to adapt quickly to a different way of life. In the nearly 20 years that Kerry was stationed with her husband in Germany, UK, Cyprus and finally Canada where she held various job positions in different locations displaying how highly adaptable she was to an ever-changing environment. Since settling in Canada in 2013 she has embraced the Canadian way of life and made Medicine Hat her home. Kerry is looking forward to giving back to the community where possible.


Alex Zabel, Industry Support & Government Relations

Alex is an eternal optimist, believing that problems are always solvable. She was raised in a family of entrepreneurs and has run her communications company since 2015. She has worked with many organizations of various sizes across multiple countries. Alex started with the Chamber in July 2022 bringing an enthusiasm for policy (yes, really!) and experience working in government and politics. She’s relentless in her efforts to support business and is dedicated to doing everything she can to help her community thrive.


Josh Schafer, Communications & Projects Administrator

Josh joined the Chamber team in the spring of 2021 on a student work term. He graduated from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Business. His Major in Management and Minor in Marketing is a great mix to fill his full-time role as the Communications and Projects Administrator. Josh has an interest in visuals and communication. He truly believes that strong marketing and communications can lead to customer engagement and retention.


Bailey Warner, Marketing & Special Events Manager

Bailey Warner graduated from the Visual Communication program at the Medicine Hat college with a bachelor’s degree in Art & Design. Bailey has worked as a freelance/contract designer for the past few years – being brought onto some amazing community projects, hosted/planned events, and worked with our cities finest. Bailey feels that through collaboration and support, everyone’s business can succeed and thrive in our community.
Samantha Tonin

Samantha Tonin, Marketing & Special Events Manager

Samantha joined the Chamber team in September 2021 as the Marketing & Special Events Manager. She brings knowledge and corporate experience pertaining to event and business planning initiatives. Samantha has implemented and developed various sponsorship and marketing opportunities ranging from local to a national level. She has a passion for creativity and innovation, which will create success while she coordinates, manages, and markets the important events that connect the business community. While Samantha will be going on maternity leave in March, we look forward to having her back in 2023!

As the exclusive advisor for the Chambers of Commerce Insurance Plan, JoAnne has over 200 firms she administers in our region with a 97% retention rate. JoAnne is very determined to not only be the best advisor you will encounter, but encourages the relationship that goes along with caring for your business. She enjoys interacting with her clients and learning about their businesses.
