Lisa Kowalchuk

Lisa Kowalchuk, Executive Director

Lisa is passionate about our community and seeing growth and prosperity within our region. She enjoys seeking out opportunities and finding out what's possible in what sometimes seems impossible. Community building is important to Lisa and she knows that to see change happen, she needs to be an active part of that change and contribute as an agent of change. The Chamber of Commerce has provided her the opportunity to put her strength and passion to work, as we strive to connect and support our business community through partnerships, networks, resources, programs and through our influence. I use my passion, knowledge, resources, connections and network to influence meaningful change in our community. Having served in this role since 2009, she brings knowledge and experience gained through the Chamber and our network, coupled with her past experiences and knowledge to serve our business community.

Kerry Knowles, Finance and Operations Administrator

Kerry joined the Chamber in September 2021 as the Finance and Operations Administrator, she comes with a huge spectrum of experience and knowledge in HR (administration), finance, welfare, operations, and retail. She started her career as a Data Entry Clerk in the UK, she then joined her husband who was at the time stationed in Germany and had to adapt quickly to a different way of life. In the nearly 20 years that Kerry was stationed with her husband in Germany, UK, Cyprus and finally Canada where she held various job positions in different locations displaying how highly adaptable, she was to an ever-changing environment. Since settling in Canada in 2013 she has embraced the Canadian way of life and made Medicine Hat her home and is looking forward to giving back to the community where possible.

Celina

Celina Symmonds, Member Relations Manager

Celina joined the Chamber in September 2021. She served as a City Councilor from 2013-2017, as a Medicine Hat Public School Division Trustee from 2017-2021 and as Executive Director of The Medicine Hat and District Food Bank from 2015-2021. She comes to the Chamber with extensive committee experience having served on many city committees including; The Arts & Heritage Advisory Board/Public Art Committee, The Medicine Hat Community Housing Society, THRIVE Medicine Hat and Surrounding areas plan to end poverty, Public Services Committee, The City’s Subdivision & Development Appeal Board, was the Chair of the Wild Horse Border Committee, as well as the Physician Recruitment and Retention committee. Celina has been committed to working in the not-for-profit sector throughout her career and has been involved at many levels in the plan to end homelessness and the communities plan to end poverty by 2030. Celina is excited to give back to the business community who has always supported her in the social causes she has been involved with her throughout her career.

Kristen Walsh, Marketing & Special Events Manager

Kristen Walsh started with us in 2018 as a Visual Communication student, working with us through her schooling until graduation in 2019. She then came on board with us full time, coordinating and managing our events, including our business awards. Kristen's background in design and video has come in quite handy as she has developed many visual marketing and branding concepts, as well as being able to provide us with video content. With her background, Kristen was able to easily transition us into a virtual environment with the delivery of a number of virtual events.

Samantha Tonin

Samantha Tonin, Marketing & Special Events Manager

Samantha joined our team in September 2021 as the Marketing & Special Events Manager. She brings knowledge and corporate experience pertaining to event and business planning initiatives. Samantha has implemented and developed various sponsorship and marketing opportunities ranging from local to a national level. She has a passion for creativity and innovation, which will create success while she coordinates, manages, and markets the important events that connect the business community.
Josh 3

Josh Schafer, Communications & Project Administrator

Josh joined our team in spring of 2021 on a student work term. He graduated from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Business. His Major in Management and Minor Marketing is a great mix to fill his full time role as the Communications and Projects Administrator. Josh has a interest in visuals and communication. He truly believes that strong marketing and communications can lead to customer engagement and retention.

Rebecca Wieler

Rebecca Wieler, Business Support Assistant

Rebecca has been with our team since late 2020 where she has worked on projects such as ShopYXH, updating our business directory, and writing our Economic Impacts Report. She is in her 3rd year at the University of Lethbridge with a major in Economics and a minor in International Management. She is passionate about economics and how it influences human behavior and social structures. She has a passion for learning, research and writing.

Keean

Keean Lehtinen, Industry Support & Government Relations Coordinator

Keean started with us during the spring of 2021. He will be joining as the Industry Support & Government Relations Coordinator during his summer work term. Keean is in his 5th year at the University of Lethbridge with a Major in General Management and Minor in Supply Chain and International Management. He comes from a family of small business owners and knows the value that locally owned businesses can add to their regions.

Joanne Letkeman 2

JoAnne Letkeman, Exclusive Chambers Plan Advisor

As the exclusive advisor for the Chambers of Commerce Insurance Plan, she has over 200 firms she administers with a 97% retention rate. JoAnne is very determined to not only be the best advisor you will encounter, but encourages the relationship that goes along with caring for your business. She enjoys interacting with her clients and learning about their businesses.
